The Role
As a Support Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of support staff to deliver high-quality, person-centred care and support. You will ensure individuals receive safe, effective, and tailored support that promotes independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, supervising, and motivating a team of support workers
- Ensuring care and support plans are delivered effectively and consistently
- Supporting individuals to develop daily living skills and greater independence
- Monitoring service quality, compliance, and safeguarding standards
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing team members
- Supporting recruitment, induction, and ongoing staff training
- Building positive relationships with service users, families, professionals, and external agencies
- Managing resources and budgets effectively
- Maintaining accurate records, reports, and documentation
- Participating in on-call duties and providing hands-on support when required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within health and social care
- Experience supporting vulnerable adults with complex needs
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding, person-centred care, and regulatory requirements
- Experience developing and supporting staff performance
- Good IT, written, and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work flexibly, including shifts, weekends, sleep-ins, and on-call duties when required
- A proactive, positive, and solution-focused approach
Qualifications
Essential:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (or willingness to work towards)
Desirable:
- Additional health and social care qualifications
- Experience managing supported living or residential services
- Training qualifications (AET, IOSH, MAPA, or equivalent)
- Full UK driving licence
