Are you an experienced residential care leader looking for a dynamic senior management role? Our client, a leading children’s residential care provider, is seeking an Operations Manager / Responsible Individual to join their dedicated team and support the Director in delivering exceptional care and service growth.
About the Role
In this pivotal position, you will provide day-to-day strategic and operational leadership across multiple residential homes, ensuring the highest standards of care for children and young people. You will work closely with Registered Managers to support, mentor, and maintain regulatory compliance, all within a therapeutic parenting ethos.
You’ll oversee referrals, placements, and collaborate with partners to develop coordinated care plans that nurture positive outcomes. As the key leadership figure across the homes, you will ensure all services meet and exceed Ofsted “Good” standards, maintaining compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and related frameworks.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and support Registered Managers across multiple homes, providing regular supervision and professional development
- Ensure all homes meet regulatory, Ofsted, and company standards, including preparation for inspections
- Oversee referral and placement management, collaborating with external partners and placing authorities
- Monitor and maintain financial health across homes, ensuring profitability and budget compliance
- Champion safeguarding practices and provide expert support for compliance with current legislation
- Manage recruitment, induction, and HR processes in line with best practice and legal requirements
- Promote a positive, safe working environment aligned with the company’s therapeutic parenting ethos
- Drive service growth initiatives and contribute to strategic development projects
About You
- Minimum 5 years residential care experience, with at least 3 years at Registered Manager level or above, demonstrating Ofsted ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ outcomes
- Proven senior management experience (minimum 1 year) with strong leadership in disciplinary and grievance procedures
- Sound knowledge of children’s residential care legislation, safeguarding, and best practice
- Experience managing budgets and supporting business growth and service development
- Relevant qualifications such as QCF Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Children’s Residential Services; CIM Level 7 or CIPD Level 7 qualifications desirable
